Dr. Joyce Suh leads every visit personally, so you see the same familiar team each time.

  • Terra Dental schedules appointments so that patients are taken back at their scheduled time rather than held in a waiting room. The practice books fewer patients per day than a typical dental office and builds buffer into the schedule, which is why visits start on time and run their full length — 90 minutes for a cleaning and exam (with x-rays), without being rushed through it. If you arrive early, we’ll make every effort to get you seated sooner so you can get back to your day!

  • Yes. Terra Dental provides noise-cancelling Beats headphones and Gentle Monster sunglasses to every patient at no charge. The headphones block the sounds most people find unpleasant about dental work, and the sunglasses cut the glare from the overhead treatment light. Both are offered at the start of your appointment — you don't need to request them in advance.

  • Yes — Terra Dental offers Netflix, Disney+, HBO, Spotify, and Apple TV during treatment, streamed through noise-cancelling Beats headphones so you can tune out the sounds of the office entirely. Patients are welcome to queue up a show or a movie at the start of an appointment. Many find it the easiest way to make a longer visit, like a cleaning or a whitening session, pass quickly.

  • We allocate enough time to ensure you're comfortable and never rushed. We dedicate 90 minutes for a cleaning and exam, 30–60 minutes for a consult, and 90 minutes for teeth whitening. We always start on time because we know your time is valuable. Even better, if you arrive early, we'll make every effort to start early and get you back to your day!

  • Please bring your ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and a form of payment. If you have any recent dental x-rays or records, please bring them or email them to concierge@terradental.nyc. We recommend allocating 90 minutes for your first visit, but if you're tight on time, let us know and we can absolutely accommodate.

  • You'll wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position — this is the most important part of the process.   • Results typically last one to three years depending on your diet, habits, and maintenance. Coffee, wine, and tea are the usual suspects. We'll send you home with care instructions to keep your results as long as possible — and touch-up treatments are always an option when you're ready for a refresh!

  • It can, but we've got you covered. Our whitening process is full service, full stop. We'll assess your sensitivity level beforehand, tailor the bleach concentration to your teeth, and prep you with everything you need for a comfortable experience. We exclusively use premium materials — E.max, layered porcelain, and zirconia — for their superior durability, natural aesthetics, and long-term value.     E.max is a pressed ceramic known for its lifelike translucency, making it ideal for front teeth. Zirconia is incredibly strong and works well for back teeth that take heavy force.   • Without insurance, a tooth-colored composite filling at Terra Dental typically costs $400 to $650 depending on the size and complexity of the case. We only use high-quality composite materials and take the time to match the shade and contour to your natural tooth — so it blends in seamlessly. PPO insurance generally covers a significant portion of filling costs.

  • It comes down to how much of the tooth needs to be restored. An inlay fits within the cusps (the raised edges) of a tooth — think of it as a precision-made filling. An onlay extends over one or more cusps, covering a larger area. A crown covers the entire visible surface of the tooth. The more structure that's been compromised, the more coverage you need. Dr. Suh always recommends the most conservative option that will protect the tooth long-term.

Preventive Care & Cleanings

  • Your first visit at Terra Dental — which includes a cleaning, comprehensive exam, and x-rays — costs $525. Routine cleaning visits are $500, or $450 with a Terra Membership. Dental PPO insurance generally covers cleanings, exams, and x-rays!

  • For most patients, we recommend every six months. That said, everyone's oral health is different — some patients benefit from more frequent visits, especially if there's a history of gum disease or buildup. Dr. Suh will recommend a schedule tailored to your specific needs during your first visit.

  • We dedicate 90 minutes for your first visit so you never feel rushed. You'll get a comprehensive exam, digital x-rays, and a thorough cleaning, all performed by Dr. Suh and her team. We'll walk you through everything we find, answer all your questions, and put together a personalized care plan if any follow-up is needed.

Pricing & Payment

  • It depends on your insurance coverage and the services you receive. If you call ahead with your insurance info, we can give you a very close estimate. Without insurance, the initial visit (exam, x-rays, and cleaning) costs $525, a filling runs $400 to $650, and professional whitening starts at $950. We'll always let you know pricing upfront with no surprises.

  • Your dental insurance will likely cover the cost of a consultation. If you're self-covering, there's a $200 consult fee for new patients, which can count toward the cost of your treatment. Invisalign consultations are complimentary.

    For existing patients, consultations are always complimentary as part of your routine exams!

  • No, but you're always welcome to pay per visit. Our membership plans are annual to align with the frequency of routine check-ups. Unlike insurance, our plans go into effect immediately — no paperwork, no waiting periods. You can sign up during your visit and use your benefits that same day!

  • We offer one modification per year between plans. If you upgrade, your new benefits kick in immediately and we'll credit the pro-rated remaining value from your original plan. If you downgrade, your new plan begins at the end of your current plan's period.
